Sohar Steel LLC, the Steel Melt Shop, is the backward Integration of the Sharq Sohar Steel Rolling Mills LLC. Sohar Steel is located in 250,000 square meter area in Sohar Industrial Port Company and very near to Port of Sohar, the emerging Sea Port in the Gulf Region.
The plant is capable of producing 250,000 MT of Steel Billets annually and is indented for consumption of Sharq Sohar Steel Rolling Mills LLC. The plant infrastructure is provided for the future capacity up gradation to 500,000 MT per year.
The present plant facilities include Ultra High Power (UHP) Electric Arc Furnace (EAF) with 36 MT capacity , powered by 30 MVA transformer and Ladle Furnace (LF) of 5 MVA power. The 3 strand Caster of 6 meter radius can cast billet sizes of 100, 120 and 130 mm. Hydraulic shear is used for the automatic cutting of billets. The plant is capable of receiving scrap, DRI and HBI as raw material.
Sohar Steel is equipped with modernized Wet Lab facilities and most modern type Spectrometer through which strict quality control measures are practiced to achieve the specified product quality standards.
Sohar Steel believes in the protection of the environment and conservation of nature and consider it as one of the prime responsibility. Best Available Dust collection technology is adopted to limit the emission within the international standards. Continuous efforts are on to keep the plant green, clean and environmental friendly. |
